The Rütli Plain
If you are not afraid of the Swiss, the real Swiss, then make a stop in Seelisberg, birthplace of Switzerland. It’s in this small town that you’ll find the mythical Rütli plain where the founders of the Helvetic Confederation are supposed to have sealed their first alliance in 1291. The Federal Pact was signed by representatives of the valleys and what are today the cantons of Uri, Schwytz and Unterwald. The train journey from Zurich takes a little less than two hours, and the view of the Lake of the Four Cantons is breathtaking!
